Dermal Fillers

Fine Lines & Wrinkles

Change the way you age at The Beauty Institute.

Age and life-styles can impact on the way we look on the outside, and it’s no secret that we would like to keep our youthful appearances as long as we can and feel as good on our outside as we do on the inside.

What happens to the skin with age?

Over time the skin loses its own natural moisturiser Hyaluronic acid (HA) which gives us our natural healthy glow and youthful appearances. At The Beauty Institute we can reduce the signs of ageing by replacing your lost HA, hydrating and plumping the treated area and restoring lost volume and harmony.

Belotero is a range of HA dermal fillers that are used at The Beauty Institute. They are made of the same moisturising component within your skin and are perfect for a personalised full face treatment. Belotero was voted Injectable Product of The Year by the UK’s aesthetic practitioners.

Dermal Filler/Volumising Hyaluronic Acid Treatment - Patient Informed Consent Form

  • Dermal fillers/volumisers are a non-animal, stabilised hyaluronic acid produced to smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds around the nose and mouth or to shape facial contours. It is a treatment that is instant and helps the hydration of tissues due to the action of retaining water in the tissue spaces. It is a non- permanent transparent gel.
  • They have been FDA approved for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. It is used to treat around the nose and mouth and to shape facial contours in order to temporarily diminish the look of wrinkles and soft tissue depression.

  • Alternative forms of management include not treating the skin wrinkles or tissue depression by any means. Improvement to the skin wrinkles and soft tissue depressions may be accomplished by other treatments: laser treatments, chemical skin peels, dermabrasion or other skin peels, alternative tissue fillers or surgery such as blepharoplasty, face or brow lift. Risks and potential complications are also associated with alternative forms of medical or surgical treatments.
  • It is important that you understand the risks and potential complications that are associated with the procedure and the decision to undergo this treatment is based on the comparison between risk and benefits. Therefore it is important to inform you that after the treatment some common injection related reactions might occur.  These reactions include redness, swelling, pain, itching, bruising and tenderness at the treatment site.  These reactions are generally described as mild to moderate and typically resolve spontaneously a few days after treatment.  These reactions are normal and are to be expected.

  •  Other types of reaction are rare, but approximately one in every 10,000 treated patients has experienced localised allergic reactions after one or more injection treatments.  These have usually consisted of swelling and firmness at the treatment site, sometimes affecting the surrounding tissues.  Redness, tenderness and rarely acne-like formations have also been reported.  These reactions have either started a few days after injection or after a delay of several weeks.  They have been described as mild to moderate and self-limiting, with an average duration of two weeks.  In rare instances such reactions have persisted for several months.

  • On very rare occasions (less than one in 15,000 treatments with dermal fillers) prolonged firmness, abscess formation, tissue necrosis (death tissue) or greyish discolouration (tindle effect) at the implant site has occurred.  These reactions can develop weeks to months following the injections and may persist for several months but normally resolve with time. Very rarely nodule or granuloma formation can occur. Even more rarely, the formation of a scab and sloughing (shedding) of tissue at the treatment site has been noted, which could result in a shallow scar.  Blindness - this is extremely rare.
  • My practitioner has also informed me that depending on the product used, area treated, skin type and the injection technique, the effect of treatment can last 3 – 12 months. (Lip enhancement will last approx 3 - 6 months). If using a volumising filler the results can be expected to last up to 18 months. In some cases the duration may be shorter or longer. Realistic expectations and the level of desired correction have been discussed at consultation prior to treatment. Touch up and follow on treatment will help to maintain this correction. My practitioner has advised me of the amount of product required and the cost of the treatment.

  • I consent to a photographic record being made of the effect of treatment. These photographs remain the property of The Beauty Institute.
  • The use of and indications for the products I will be treated with have been explained to me by my practitioner and I have had the opportunity to have all questions answered to my satisfaction.
  • The Beauty Institute cannot provide a guarantee as to the success of the dermal filler treatment, therefore no refunds for treatment carried out are offered, the treatment is undertaken voluntarily
